Our two musical theater classes are taught by Doug King.
He is the choreographer and frequent performer at Beef
and Boards Dinner Theater. He is also Professor of Dance
at Anderson University and Co-Director of the Christian
dance ministry, Praise In Motion. Doug toured with Donny
Osmond in Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Musical Theater dance students are given fundamental
jazz technical exercises followed by center work. Center
work is choreography from a musical such as West Side
Story, Grease, Oklahoma, Cats and more! It is a fun
class for everyone, especially for those interested in
auditioning and performing in musicals at school and the
community.
Singing may be incorporated into the musical theater
numbers.
Jazz shoes are needed for this class. (boys-black dance
sneakers, girls-tan jazz shoes)
